About Donna
Donna Locati,
a native of Fresno CA, has a BA in art from California State University, Fresno and studied costume design in Los Angeles at the Chouinard Art Institute. She taught costume design at CSUF, and had regular art shows at the William Rogers Gallery and with the Fresno Printmakers' Guild. Her artwork has been included in the Times and Seasons series of books by Monsignor Sergio Negro, as well as in a Fresno Farmers' Market book. Donna had a successful and interactive residency at the Fresno Art Museum, and was awarded Artist of the Year by the Fresno Arts Council. Her large paper sculpture angels and quillery hangings have been displayed at St Paul Catholic Newman Center for many years.
Donna's primary medium is watercolor. Over the years, she's expanded into printing, etching, paper sculpture and quillery. She's enjoyed working with other artists, specifically with the Printmakers' Guild and her quillery group. Her style ranges from a playful version of reality to mysterious, dreamlike scenes. Donna has taught many to explore art, especially children, and believes that nobody should fear putting a paint-filled brush to paper. She tries to create something new each day.
